Stage Your Home and Sell it Fast

Monday, June 25th, 2012

“Stage your pad to beat out the competition and draw in more prospective buyers. Most buyers have a hard time looking past pink walls and green shag carpet, so do the legwork for them and present their “new home” on a silver platter. If done smartly, the money spent staging will be made up tenfold in the house sale — and you keep all the hot accessories for yourself afterwards (or unload them on Craigslist)….”

Shortage of Homes for Sale

Friday, June 15th, 2012

Everyone is so used to hearing that it’s a buyer’s market, that they can’t seem to believe the current news on our local real estate market. Homes are selling at a fast rate, and not being replenished as quickly as they are selling.

In all price ranges in Ames last month, 1/3- 1/2 of the homes that were on the market sold! As of June 4th, there were only 212 homes on the market-a 32% reduction in inventory levels from the previous year. This represented the 3rd lowest level of homes on the market at month end since 2005.

We have a number of buyers who haven’t been able to find the home they want yet, due to the shortage of homes to choose from. The hottest market last month was the 225-300k range. If you have considered selling, now would be a good time to contact a Hunziker & Associates real estate agent.

New Stores and Restaurants Headed to Ankeny!

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012

The growth of shopping and dining experiences in Ankeny continues to expand, and several exciting new projects are in the works.

Mills Fleet Farm will be building a new store in Ankeny this year. The store will be located just south of Dewey Ford on SE Delaware Avenue. Mills Fleet Farm carries farm, home, pet, automotive, clothing, and sporting goods.

A new “restaurant road” has been proposed for the Prairie Trail Town Center being built west of DMACC. The road would extend east of SW State Street between Orlabor Road and future Magazine Road. It would lead into the area where the new city library and city hall complex will be built and include a connecting street into the DMACC Campus.

Several businesses will also be expanding and bringing jobs into the area. The Toro Company, which sells landscape maintenance equipment, is building a new distribution center in Ankeny that will employ 20 people. Old Dominion Freight Line is also building a new complex east of the Corporate Woods interstate exchange that will add 75 new jobs over the next 5 years. The Crosswinds Business Park is also expanding. Two new streets will be added to open up an additional 125 acres for business construction.
