Free Mulch Available for Hauling

“Free mulch is available for hauling at the City of Ames debris drop-off site through Sunday, Sept. 30. The majority of the mulch is from tree limbs dropped off by residents after the July windstorm. The limbs have been chipped into smaller pieces. The mulch is available at the drop-off site east of the City Cemetery at the Parks and Recreation Maintenance Facility, 700 E. 13th St.

The site is open every day during daylight hours through the end of September.”

“Short sales (selling a property for less than the amount owed with the lender still releasing the mortgage), already on the rise this year, are expected to get an additional boost from a move by federal regulators who oversee Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to streamline paperwork and offer up to $6,000 to second-lien holders who can derail the process.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will offer up to $6,000 to second-lien holders to expedite a short sale, the Federal Housing Finance Agency announced this week, and require reduced or no documentation from borrowers who have missed several loan payments, have low credit scores, or have serious financial hardship…”

School supplies fundraiser makes a splash

Thank you to all our customers and friends who came out to support our community pool party fundraiser at Fawcett Family Aquatic Center in Nevada!

Guests brought a school supply item to donate to Central Elementary and were treated to soda, chips and free swimming. Hundreds of school supplies were collected both at the event and at our donation site at the Ben Franklin store in Nevada. Thank you to everyone who participated!
