Design Professional to Speak on Historic Preservation
The Ames Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will host a series of free public lectures to raise awareness about the importance of historic preservation in the community. Steve Wilke-Shapiro, a design professional from Des Moines, will be the first featured speaker. AIER looked at a variety of factors, including culture and entertainment, earning potential, student diversity, cost of living and more.

The latest approval comes after the University of Iowa, Iowa State and UNI were ranked in the top 100 in Kiplinger’s “best values in public colleges” in January.”

 

Ames home prices up 4%

HomePriceIndexYoYIn the most recent 12 month period, average home prices in Ames have increased exactly 4.0%. The average number of days on the market shows homes are selling 19% faster.

Nationwide home prices, including distressed sales, climbed 9.7 percent year-over-year (YoY) in January, according to CoreLogic’s latest home price report. This is the eleventh straight monthly rise, and it’s the biggest gain since April 2006.
